Oran Jones
With a fervent belief in equity for all students, Oran has lead classrooms in historically under resourced communities and underrepresented populations towards success for over 20 years. The call for social justice in education began in her undergraduate years at Spelman College and continued at Rust College, where she earned a double-major Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Social Sciences- African American Studies. She also holds a Master's degree in Gifted Education from Arkansas State University, and is currently a doctoral candidate in Curriculum and Leadership at Northeastern University.
Originally from New Jersey, Oran has made Memphis, TN her home for almost 30 years. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and is active in local social groups, such as Black Girls Do Bike. She and her husband Anthony are avid St. Jude Marathon participants, and enjoy spending time at church, riding bikes and going to concerts. They are the extremely proud parents of Gabby, 16, and Kemen, 20.
